Independent Study

Many of you will not have worked independently before, but as you approach IB you will be expected to work independently more and more. Here are a few point you might like to bear in mind.

  • Check the syllabus carefully
  • Divide your available time by the amount of work you have to do
  • Give your work a title and add subtitles as you go
  • Define and underline key terms
  • Annotate your work and explain to yourself what is going on, preferably in a different colour
  • Draw diagrams
  • Check your work with your classmates
  • Take responsibility for your learning and make sure you cover what you’re supposed to cover
